Synthetic dyes

Synthetic dyes are produced through chemical synthesis. The advantage of synthetic dyes is that they are stable in terms of physical and chemical properties, such as light, temperature and pH, because of which they are very convenient to use. They also have a standard composition and therefore a guaranteed quality. At just a low dose, high colour fastness can be achieved.

Synthetic colourings can be divided into dyes and lakes. Synthetic dyes are water-soluble colourings. Synthetic lakes are oil-dispersible colourings. A lake is not water soluble, but it is fat emulsifiable. Lakes are often used in fish feed and other purposes where water-soluble dyes are not desired. Both dyes and lakes can be used in many processes because of their purity.
