Zeobind is formed by a volcanic deposit of minerals in a humid region. As volcanic ash enters water, it cools down quickly and a porous crystal structure is formed. This (honeycomb-like) structure has numerous cavities and angles because of which the product has a high cation exchange capacity (CEC value). This ensures that fertilisers are retained in the soil for longer and can therefore be absorbed by the plant at a later stage. This results in reduced leaching of fertilisers, but also better utilisation of fertilisers in certain periods (e.g. around flowering or fruiting). The product can also be used to bind harmful substances, resulting in better absorption of other substances.
On highly permeable soils, Zeobind has a very good effect on plant growth, without significant fertiliser loss. Examples are dry sandy grounds, but also sports fields and golf courses.
The advantage of Zeobind compared to Zeolite Actionine is that this product is available in several granular fractions.
