Biostimulants : soil and plant improvement

Since 2013, Poortershaven has expanded into the sale of soil improvement minerals, also known as biostimulants. Target groups that we focus on include:

Horticulture: such as tree and fruit cultivation and open field vegetable growing, ornamental horticulture and bulb and tuber crops.

Arable farming: The effects that our products have on these crops include improving the absorption of trace elements and increasing the silicon content in the plant. The products also boost organisms in the soil, thereby improving the yield, they can reduce the need for disease control and the plants become stronger.

Pasture farming: We concentrate primarily on pastureland and silage maize cultivation. During application, a number of products can be processed through the manure. This ensures a more uniform manure, which holds the nitrogen better and releases less ammonia. The foregoing has a positive effect on organisms in the soil, therefore resulting in a healthier crop for the animals.

Nature: We strive to improve depleted natural environments. Our products reduce acidified soils, resulting in increased organisms in the soil. This ensures variety in plant and animal species, less desiccation and a reduction in diseases caused by pests.

Municipalities: Municipalities also use our products for park management, such as creating borders and planting trees.

Sports fields: In this category, we use our products to improve the soil by holding minerals for longer. This results in less fertilisation being required and ensures that the grass remains green and continues growing for longer. This also has a positive effect on the moisture binding capacity and permeability of the soil.
